Wilton Plaza | Mace
On a prominent central London site just south of Victoria station, Wilton Plaza provides a rare blend of dwelling types in a sustainable and socially inclusive development. The construction of the project was broken into two phases of two buildings, each with a different resident in mind. As construction manager, Mace delivered both phases of the landmark project on budget.
The first phase involved the demolition of existing buildings and the erection of two new student accommodation buildings. Together, they comprise 157 student bed spaces set around a private courtyard. The second phase resulted in two further buildings with 74 affordable residential units and 37 private/market residential units on top of ground-floor retail. In addition to promoting a diverse community, the development had sustainability built in with ample bicycle parking, close proximity to public transport, significant public green space, one of the largest solar panel installations in the UK, and 13 percent of energy produced from renewable sources on site. Since completion, the project has achieved the EcoHomes Excellent rating.
