Integration inspiration

A high profile commission for our integrated service offer, Mace Group was appointed to provide construction management, project management and cost consultancy in addition acting as client's agent on the Ropemaker development.

Ropemaker is a 900,000ft2 high quality, sustainable office and retail development. It is located between Ropemaker Street and Chiswell Street on the southern boundary of the London Borough of Islington and adjacent to the City of London. The appointment covered the shell and core construction of the three storey basement and 21 storey superstructure.

Client British Land purchased the site in February 2006 with a consented, Gensler design scheme in place. Arup Associates redesigned the building and achieved planning consent on the revised scheme. Construction started in 2006 and shell and core completed in May 2009.

Our integrated service team provided the client with a single point of responsibility for management, project delivery and success - creating shorter communication lines and a reduction in client administration. The benefits of integration were felt immediately and Mace's Ropemaker team scored an impressive 38 out of 40 in its first Considerate Constructors inspection in May 2007.

Mlogic, another part of the Mace Group, was responsible for the £9.3m fixed price logistics package.

Sense Cost Consultancy Ltd was appointed as part of the Mace team to provide the full, integrated management of Ropemaker Place, incorporating construction manager, project manager, cost consultant and client's agent.
