Marks and Spencer Store Refurbishment Programme

In June 2005 Mace was appointed as project manager to support Marks and Spencer in the delivery of its stores refurbishment programme. After succesfully delivering the 2005/2006 programme and having developed an integrated team with the client's internal stakeholders, Mace was awarded a major share of the subsequent years' roll out programme.

In order to improve the success predictability of this major roll out, Mace developed and delivered a programme management methodology with the customer to deliver circa £100m of stores refurbishment.

This service incorporated:

  • Supply chain management
  • Demand fulfilment
  • Value management
  • Robust planning and tracking tools development
  • Implimentation of a web enabled programme portal
  • Initiation of measurement systems

In 2007 and 2008 Mace project managed an extensive part of Marks and Spencers’ delivery programmes, of circa £800m and £450m, which included development schemes as well as store refurbishments. Delivery of these programmes was achieved with tight control of budgets and exceptional quality delivery by a team aiming to drive value at every stage.
