Mall of the Emirates

For retail developers in the Middle East, delivering a shopping mall experience that can compete with a market crowded by superlative and eye-catching facilities is a difficult challenge. A typical scheme is complex, may feature unique elements and will involve only the highest quality materials from across the world, which poses distinct supply, pre-construction and planning challenges. The Mall of the Emirates was particularly challenging, as it contains 6.5 million square feet of retail and leisure space.

Mace has helped long-term client Majid Al Futtaim to realise many projects but few as complex and ambitious as The Mall of the Emirates—the largest retail mall outside North America. The project includes two hotels and a 400m indoor real snow ski centre. Mace acted as the client's project manager throughout the design and construction of the development and led the procurement of more than 60 main and sub-contracts necessary to deliver the project. With more than 10 years of successful large-scale delivery across the Middle East, Mace has become one of the few companies that can efficiently procure and deliver such complex projects to a client's particular specification.
