Firstsite Visual Arts Facility

Appointed by Colchester Borough Council (CBC) via the Smart-EAST framework, Mace delivered the Firstsite Visual Arts Facility via a combination of project management and construction delivery services.

Mace was originally appointed to carry out a strategic review of the technical and procurement challenges facing the project, and after restoring the confidence of the client and project funders, was appointed to deliver the facility via a construction management service.

Designed by Rafael Viñoly Architects, the vision for the facility was to deliver a centre for displaying contemporary visual art in all its forms with public accessible controlled spaces. The facility includes presentation spaces, educational facilities, an art gallery, auditorium, offices, conference facilities, restaurant, back of house areas and external landscaping.
