The serious business of play

Mace has been appointed to build new playgrounds for Bath and North East Somerset (B&NES) Council in the South West of England under a new government initiative.

Mace has been appointed as project manager and will oversee both this and a children's centre programme. A key aspect of the role will be liaison with the council, the voluntary sector and consultation with the area's children and residents to ensure the facilities meet the requirements of the young people of the area.

B&NES will be creating a major adventure playground, six large and 22 smaller playgrounds within the next two years and is one of only 20 councils to receive Pathfinder funding for the play area projects.

The playground project appointment follows the success Mace has already had in delivering the award-winning Three Ways School for children with special educational needs, also for Bath and North East Somerset Council.
