Mace and Hsin Chong set stage for Cirque du Soleil

Mace, working with its joint venture partner, Hsin Chong, has completed the fit out of The Venetian Macau's theatre, the new home for the celebrated and spectactular work of circus group Cirque du Soleil. In keeping with Sands Corporation's reputation for glamorous and luxurious environments, the theatre comprises 1,800 seat auditorium and state of the art stage facilities, perfect for the demanding technicalities of a Cirque du Soleil show.

Mace completed work on the Cotai Strip's massive The Venetian, Macau, in summer 2007, part of the area's development as as a major tourist destination. Theatrical shows, like Cirque du Soleil's "Zaia" which premiers at the Venetian, are a big part of the appeal for tourists who combine gambling with traditional family entertainment.

For Mace the £50m theatre was a key fit out commission, keeping to the standards already delivered on the main complex of hotel and retail elements that make up the Venetian.

Andrew Miles of Mace commented: "The Cirque du Soleil fit out was part of our wider construction management of the colossal Venetian Resort, with Mace working as part of Hsin Chong Joint Venture. The Cirque du Soleil spectacle is technically amazing, and our commission included all the lighting, the stage lifts and specialist show rigging, with trolleys and roof tracks to fly performers all around the auditorium - near £15m of professional technical installations under a "performance" specification with no comparison in the industry."

Mace's work in Asia continues with a second major theatre project for The Las Vegas Sands Corporation in an adjacent hotel complex, currently under construction.
